Paris Visit Part II - Cosmetics

Hello everyone,

After having some meal with cheese and wine :) let's talk about a beauty product I bought from Paris from a regular supermarket.

It's GLOV Hydro Demaquillage microfibre make up remover glove. A Polish company Phenicoptere Ltd. produce it. At first I did not think it's worth the money (it is €15) but now I do not want to use anything but this to remove my make up.

I have a very oily skin, it shines just a few hours after cleansing. Previosly I used lots of brands such as; Clinique, Lancome even La Prairie.

Before Glov I was using Babe which was also good to clean my skin but not as good as Glov. After washing my face with Babe, when I tonic it with a cotton pad, I could still see some make up residuals. But with Glov my face is just clean and just with water. :)

Yes, using Glov is very simple, you just soaken it with water (warm or cold) and clean eyes with face. Then wash the Glov with a bar soap and hang it to dry.

The secret is in its' texture. A micro technology with star shaped micro fibres, 100 times thinner than a human hair. The producer company says it last 3 months. Yes we'll see. :)

Paris Visit

Last week we spent 4 days in Paris thanks to Airbnb which is a genius accommodation system.

You can stay with local people and they tell you what you should do, where to go, what to buy in their country. You do not become tourist anymore. :)

We stayed in a French couple house (Thierry and Celine) and learned lots of things about French culture especially cheese and wine.

Now I would like to tell you a wonderful taste called Morbier Cheese. Oh la la! :) How can I say? It's like king of cheeses.

Morbier is a semi-soft cow milk cheese of France named after the small village of Morbier in Franche-Comte. It's immediately recognizable by the thin layer seperating it horizontally in the middle.

They use ash in the center in old times to protect the cheese at night, but after a while it become a tradition. Nowadays this line is done with a vegetable dye.

If you go to France you should taste it!

Fava Bean (Broad Beans) - A Healthy Olive Oil Meal (Turkish Recipe)

Hello everyone,

Today I made an olive oil meal from fava bean (broad beans) which you may find in the markets exactly this time of year in Turkey. You may probably know fava beans as a side dish called Foul from Lebanon cuisine. The difference is the dry seeds are used making a foul. But now I did this meal with fresh beans.

The beans are very rich source of dietary fiber (66% per100g RDA) which acts as a bulk laxative. Dietary fiber helps to protect the colon mucosa by decreasing its exposure time to toxic substances as well as by binding to cancer-causing chemicals in the colon.

Broad beans are rich in phyto-nutrients such as isoflavone and plant-sterols. Isoflavone such as genistein and daidzein have been found to protect breast cancer in laboratory animals. Phytosterols, especially ß-sitosterol, help lower cholesterol levels in the body.

They also contain good amounts of vitamin-B6 (pyridoxine), thiamin (vitamin B-1), riboflavin and niacin. These vitamins function as co-enzymes in cellular metabolism of carbohydrate, protein, and fat.

Ingredients:
Half a kilo of fresh fava beans
1 onion
1 tablespoon tomato paste
Red pepper
Black pepper
1 tablespoons flour (heaping)
Half a lemon
1 teaspoon sugar
Olive oil

Preparation:
First clean and chop beans. Fill a container with some water add lemon juice and flour stir it then put all beans. This is an important process to prevent the fresh beans darken. I assure you it's not good. :(

Meanwhile, saute onions in olive oil until become golden brown in a saucepan. Add tomato paste and spices. Add the beans to the pot without washing. Saute a few minutes. Add some boiling water over the beans 1-2 fingers. Close the pressure cooker's lid by adding salt and sugar. It takes almost half an hour get cooked in a pressure cooker. If you cook it with normal pot the cooking time will be longer.

Please do not cook too much since all fibers are gone and it's not healthy for us anymore. Al dante is good. :)

It is recommended to be served with a garlic yogurt.

Enjoy your meal. :)
